The Scottish Sailing Team is for athletes committed to progressing along the pathway towards the British Youth Sailing Team, and British Sailing Team.
Selection for the 2024-25 Scottish Sailing Team will be determined by Selectors, comprising of the RYA Scotland Pathway Manager, RYA Scotland Pathway Development Officer, RYA Scotland Performance Director and the Chair of RYA Scotland Performance Committee. The decision of the Selectors shall be ratified by the RYA Scotland Performance Committee.
Athletes appointed by the RYAS Performance Committee will be those who have exhibited the greatest potential of progressing to World Class Programme standard.
The selection process for the 2024-25 Scottish Sailing Team will involve three types of indicator events:
• Primary Indicators: These will typically be class nationals, unless otherwise specified.
• Secondary Indicators: These events will supplement the decision-making process.
• Final Selection Training Weekend: This will focus on assessing character and sailor attributes.
Additionally, overall performance and personal application beyond the listed indicator events will be considered. This includes performance at national and international events and participation in the summer training programs. If there is a conflict between class international events and any of the indicator events, results from the international events will take precedence.
