Our volunteers give their time and expertise freely for the benefit of the Scottish boating community. We explore and highlight the role these volunteers play in our organisation by providing an induction, and by sharing resources like our Volunteer Book.
Many of our volunteers sit on the below RYA Scotland Committees:
Participation and Development Committee
The Participation and Development Committee exists to help and support the work of the RYA Scotland staff development team and gives a member perspective to the direction and focus for the development of sailing in Scotland. The committee draws from a wide range of RYA interests and brings a diverse group of representatives together to input towards the future of participation and development within our sport and wider boating activities in Scotland.

Performance Committee
The Performance Committee supports on all aspects of the sport relating to Performance Racing. Performance is considered, in the context of this committee, to be any racing that can consistently deliver world class Scottish sailors who are capable of winning World, European and Olympic medals. This would usually include, but is not limited to, dinghies, windsurfers and yachts. The committee is made up of volunteers with in depth experience of performance pathways, who support and guide the RYA Scotland Performance staff in the design and implementation of a Performance Plan.
