We’ve all had our heads down in the office this last couple of weeks working on the governing body funding bid to Sport NI for 22/23. Normal service has resumed, apologies for the slow replies from me this week.
New News!
RYANI Awards
We have decided to pause the RYANI Annual Awards due to the ongoing pandemic for another year. However we still want to have shout about the amazing work of the clubs, centres and volunteers through this period in time, Tell us your stories and we will share on our website and socials, hopefully reaching the printed press too.
Even without the awards themselves, we want to know who deserves to be recognised across the themes of the catergories; Instructor, Race coach, Volunteer, Young Volunteer or Young Powerboater as well as Club/Centre too.
If you have a someone in mind, even just an idea, please get in touch and we can help pull together the details.
Were especially interested to hear from clubs, centres or members who have tried something different in 2021.

On the subject of the awards, Ballyholme Yacht Club have been shortlisted for the RYA & Yachts & Yachting Club of the Year, but they NEED YOUR VOTE! You can vote here, it would be great to see an NI club win. 😊

Windsurfing
RYANI staff and volunteers from clubs came together at Holywood Yacht Club last week to discuss the current Windsurfing & wider board sport scene in NI and what/if RYANI could do anything to support activity & growth. The outcome from the meeting will find its way into the RYANI strategy, which is currently being worked on. If you are particularly keen on windsurfing (including winging/foiling) please get in touch. It looks like we will try to get a windsurfing instructor course in the calendar too, a direct result from the meeting, if you are interested let me know: mary.martin@rya.org.uk
Diversifying your offer
Does your club now offer sports that are not boating? This video might be useful! The video is an interview with an insurance broker and development manager. If you have more questions about this, please get in touch. I have a document from the legal team that may also help and I'd love to know what you're up to!

Focus Club 2022
We are looking to support clubs to sustainably grow and support the active membership at their club. Due to Covid the 2020/2021 Focus Club programme had to be stalled as priorities changed for RYANI & clubs through challenging times. Although not there yet we are seeing more clubs returning to ‘normal’. RYANI will be supporting up to 10 clubs through the focus club programme apply here - https://www.cognitoforms.com/RYANI/FocusClubProgramme
