The regional teams consist of volunteers, RYA staff, and contractors who work closely together to provide a network of support to promote boating interests, grow participation opportunities and support club and RYA membership across the region.
In addition to supporting clubs locally, there are many ways that you could contribute your time, skills, energy and expertise to support the broad aims of the RYA.
This could be at a local, regional or national level and frequently includes:
- Liaison between the Region's Clubs and the RYA;
- Co-ordination and encouragement of RYA National Training Schemes;
- Representation of the wider interests of all forms of sailing, windsurfing, cruising, inland waterways and powerboating within the Region.
Volunteering within our regions
We’ve got a number of regional volunteer groups that help us support all aspects of boating across England and Wales, as well as providing a crucial link between for local and national activites and policy development

Some of the activities we undertake and are looking for help with include
- Representing the interests of local clubs, centres and RYA members.
- Regional Planning and Environment Issues where you could lend your expertise to support boating of all types
- Coastal Navigation or Inland Waterway representatives, bringing your expertise to the forefront of national policy decisions
- Regional Racing Rules Advisers
- Race Management Co-ordinators
- Providing operational support to our teams of Development Officers, Performance Officers and Disability Development Officer
